things to do in kenmore - perthshire

Highland Perthshire is a simply perfect destination for a great day out – and for superb and greatly fulfilling activity and adventure breaks and holidays in Scotland.. Bang in the middle of Scotland and only an hour and a half or so away from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, our area is easily reached by all modes of transport. No matter how near your home, Highland Perthshire has something different to offer you and there's so much to see and do in such a compact area, you'll be spoilt for choice. Total adventure in Highland Perthshire – the best of Scotland, with a difference!

If Hill-walking and Munro bagging, biking, mountaineering, whitewater canoeing and rafting, or fly fishing appeal, then Highland Perthshire is world class. Reawaken your senses and get your pulse racing with everything from off-road driving to white water rafting, quad bikes to flying lessons!

Many less strenuous activities like horse riding, golf and graded walks are to be found, throughout the area. Highland Perthshire is a walker's paradise amidst scenery to die for, with some of the finest mountains, lowland trails, unspoilt roads and paths, mixed walking and designated routes in the British Isles.

Or why not enjoy one of the many Highland games and gatherings here in Perthshire. The games evolved from traditional clan meetings and remain a popular venue for celebrating the traditional sports alongside culture, with other amusements making a unique festival.

Scottish royalty traditionally hunted in Highland Perthshire. Later deforestation of the landscape and dispersion of subsistence farmers created the classic grouse moors and deer mountains run by large estates. Highland Perthshire has always been a great place for fishing. Towns and estates control the fishing from the banks for either salmon or trout, and permits are available from numerous appointed sources. At Kenmore there is a ritual opening to the Salmon season, held in mid January.
