local golf courses in kenmore

For golf breaks in Perthshire, look no further. There is no place in the world like Scotland for golf.

Recognised as the home of golf, golfing history can be traced back 600 years. With some 540 golf courses there is such a diversity of challenge to you and other discerning golfers - amateur or professional. And no more so than here!! Testing conditions range from not just lowland flat courses to the up and downhill fairways of our local Highland courses but with the weather often adding an extra dimension to the links there is much to vary the experience for you as the visiting golfer.

Naturally not all golf courses are at Championship level, like fairly nearby Gleneagles and Blairgowrie Rosemount. But numerous local gems await you here - well worth seeking out for their beauty, challenge and indeed to meet the locals – and their great hospitality - on their own turf. You will never be stuck for choice but you will certainly find it tough to make your selections of course to play. We really recommend Kenmore(superb), Pitlochry, Aberfeldy – and of course Taymouth Castle on our doorstep – where and why else would the Four Seasons Group choose to develop what will shortly be one of the top golf courses and destinations in Scotland.

One way to get a good deal on golf courses is to buy the Perthshire Green Card. This card offers discounted golf on many of Perthshire's 18-hole venues and we can arrange one for you.

We welcome corporate golf outings, society golf days, golf groups of all kinds, lady golfers – and promise great convivial hospitality after the 18 th – or the 19 th.

Kenmore Golf Club

Established in 1992 at Mains of Taymouth, this is a testing 9-hole golf course set in the heart of Highland Perthshire. The quality, mildly undulating layout provides an excellent venue amidst magnificent scenery. Highland golf at its best and most scenically special.

Taymouth Castle Golf Club

Golf originated in Scotland and Taymouth Castle ( Kenmore – Highland Perthshire) was not only built by one of the most famous designers, but today the golf course is one of the very best examples in the country. It is also one of the best kept secrets in Perthshire!

The course is set in a stunning parkland setting and is surrounded by hills, mountains, rivers and streams. It really is an experience to be remembered. Certianly one of Scotland’s best kept secrets and to many - possibly the most enjoyable golf course in Perthshire.

The golf course was originally set to close on 31 March 2006 to enable work to start on the upgrading of the golf course, but work requiring closure of the course is now anticipated to start in autumn . Taymouth Group Ltd, the company behind the multi-million development of Taymouth has announced that Taymouth Castle Golf Course will stay open an additional six months on a pay and play basis.

Aberfeldy Golf Club

Aberfeldy Golf Club was founded in 1895 and, until 1995, was a nine hole course running along the south bank of the River Tay. In 1993 the Club decided to extend the course to eighteen holes. In order to do this a bridge had to be built across the river and, almost a century to the day that it originally opened, the present course was opened to members and the public. The course now runs on either side of the River Tay and has the unique attraction of allowing players to cross the historic river via its own private bridge, which is listed in the Guiness Book of Records. Great value golf from only £14 per round, £22 per day, along the banks of the River Tay, amidst dramatic scenery.
