Mains of Taymouth has gone through a remarkable transition over recent years, and now offers the experience of a wonderful selection of luxury self-catering cottages, lodges and houses, whilst retaining the atmosphere of a country retreat.
Mains of Taymouth nestles by the edge of Loch Tay in Kenmore, a delightful part of Highland Perthshire in Scotland, convenient for Perth and all main routes. It sits quietly in the riverside country village setting, not far from some of the very best tourist attractions and towns in Scotland – including Pitlochry, Blair Castle and the House of Bruar. The great Taymouth Castle Golf Course is only a few minutes away and our own hidden gem, The Mains of Taymouth Golf course (previously known as Kenmore Golf Course), is on our doorstep.

The independence of a self-catering cottage or stunning new house with the facilities of a country house hotel: a new kind of luxurious ‘small is beautiful’ holiday complex which makes an ideal family or leisure break or a romantic retreat. Mains of Taymouth is a family run 120 acre Estate set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Scotland, less than two hours’ drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Over the years we have built up an amazing portfolio of 42 self-catering properties, all of an exceptional standard and furnished with a great eye for detail, style and individuality.
All our houses are presented in pristine condition with fresh linen and towels in every room. Here at Mains of Taymouth, we have an exceptionally high standard of housekeeping and never compromise on our levels of cleanliness. Hot tubs are fully drained and cleaned after every departure and re-filled for all new arrivals.
What's Included?
Bedding and linen
All our self-catering holiday properties are supplied with bed linen and the beds are made up with duvets. Where the accommodation is described as double/twin, the beds are ‘zip and link’. Please advise on booking how you would like the beds made up. Unfortunately no blankets are available. Majority of properties offer synthetic /feather bedding – please check under each individual property.
Towels
A bath sheet and hand towel are provided per person and a bath mat per bath/shower room. All properties with hot tubs also get provided with a a hot tub towel per person.
Kitchen equipment and cleaning
We provide a dishcloth, tea towels, oven cloth, scouring pad and brillo pads. Each unit has complimentary cling film, tin foil, ice cube bags, salt & pepper washing-up liquid, dishwashing tablets, washing machine tablets & black bags.
Dogs
We welcome two pets per house in the majority of our self-catering properties except the upstairs Gallops apartments & Skibo Lodge but we ask pet owners to respect the accommodation and the enjoyment of other guests by only allowing pets into the public rooms, keeping them off the furniture, cleaning the house of pet hair before departure and clearing any fouling in the estate grounds. Please bring your own pet bedding and do not leave your pet unattended in any of our holiday homes at any time in case he/she disturbs other guests or causes damage. Mains of Taymouth Country Estate & Golf Course is a family place and your pets are as welcome as any other member of the family.
Televisions
All our properties have colour televisions with a multi-channel TV system and DVD players except Easter Bruadair & Capercaillie which have Sky packages.
WiFi
Wi-fi is available to all properties, however the system is satellite based and due to poor telephone reception it can be intermittent. Good connection is freely available at our Courtyard Bar & Restaurant.
Deposits and payment
Full prepayment is required for self-catering holiday bookings made within six weeks of arrival. For other bookings, a deposit of 50% of the total booking value is required at the time of reserving accommodation to secure the booking. Full Terms and Conditions, including details of our cancellation policy and charges, are available on request. We strongly advise all our guests to ensure they have adequate holiday insurance. Unforeseen circumstances and events beyond the control of guests do occasionally arise which may mean guests have to change their travel plans. We are happy to review cases individually or we will try our utmost to re-sell your accommodation or re-schedule your holiday, but taking out your own travel insurance will give you peace of mind for any eventuality.
We support our community and we buy locally wherever possible. We collaborate and work together with local businesses and activity providers who all care for the local environment.

Currently our self-catering cottages, lodges and houses are a mixture of 4 and 5 star Visit Scotland graded self-catering accommodation. We intend all self-catering accommodation, to boast five stars within the next few years.
However, The most important ‘awards’ we receive are the accolades and the countless letters of thanks and appreciation from customers, Past and present - these are far more satisfying than any plaque on the wall, although we have plenty of those too!!
The infectious, addictive charm, personality and character of our delightful cosy cottages transcend most awards in the minds of our guests.
