A Day Trip with a Difference Harry Potter Style

Fancy a fun filled day out with spectacular scenery?The Jacobite train is described as the greatest railway journey in the world. It is an 84-mile round trip that takes in some of Scotland’s finest countryside.


Your exciting day out has a choice of a morning or afternoon departure starting at Fort William nestling in the foothills of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. The destination for your journey is Mallaig,a busy fishing port and ferry terminal. En route the train stops at the village of Glenfinnan. Moving on are a number of beautiful villages and on a good day you can see over to the “Small Isles”. Keep an eye out for the beaches passed Morrar that were used in Scottish films “highlander” and “Local Hero”.

One of the most exciting parts of your trip will be crossing the 21 arched Glenfinnan Viaduct a location made famous in the Harry Potter films. The Jacobite train provided the steam engine and carriages for ‘Hogwarts Express’. It is a great day out for all the family and die hard Potterheads!


On arrival at Mallaig you have an hour and a half to spend where there are Shops, bars and restaurants and excellent choices for fresh fish and chips.
